Gynaecological Cancer Academy (GCA) Workshop

ENGOT runs the Gynaecological Cancer Academy (GCA), an educative programme aiming to nurture and develop the next generation of leaders in gynaecological oncology to ensure continuity and transfer of knowledge and experience within the clinical trial community.

The GCA training modules comprise of 1.5-day workshops delivered once or twice a year in different countries within the ENGOT region. They cover a range of topics that are critical to effective clinical trial design, collaboration, implementation, conduct and analysis within the ENGOT framework.

The GCA is designed for experienced investigators who are not yet fully in a position to lead cooperative groups but have the potential to adopt this role in the future. Candidate participants are nominated by the ENGOT member groups. From these nominations, approximately 30-34 participants are selected based on the following selection criteria:

  • More than 5 years of clinical practice/experience in gynaecology oncology

  • Previous or current responsibility for projects with the ENGOT member group or experience as a chair/co-chair of a trial

  • Experience as speaker, chair and/or facilitator at national meetings

  • Aged ≤50 years

  • Good level of spoken English

  • Keen to participate in professional development programmes such as GCA.

The recent GCA workshops were combined with topics covering the translational research, Phase I/II trials and Phase I drugs development, hence researchers and specialists in Phase I/II clinical studies were involved as well.

The most important presentations of these training modules from all of the GCA events were webcasted and are now available on ESGO eAcademy.
